Height Safety Solutions - a specialist division of leading lifting services provider, Morris Maintenance Services - has recently completed the installation of an advanced turnkey working at height safety solution at Siemens Power Generation facility in Newcastle-upon-Tyne.

The turnkey solution centres on the Bacou-Dalloz Söll Xenon Horizontal Lifeline System that now features on the eight-roof building located on the 16-acre Newcastle facility site.

Commenting on the decision to install the Height Safety Solutions system, Marti Holland, Siemens Manager Maintenance, Facilities, Safety and Environment said: "In addition to meeting our statutory obligations relating to working at height, the system that Height Safety Solutions designed and installed has enabled us to adopt a more pro-active approach to rooftop building maintenance.

"We have always carried out inspection, repair and maintenance work in the past, but our maintenance team can now spend longer periods of time operating in what until recently was a potentially dangerous environment. Indeed having been extremely pleased with the installation, we have now put in place a very effective and progressive rooftop maintenance programme," he added.

In addition to installing the main horizontal lifeline system, Height Safety Solutions also supplied Siemens Power Generation with all of the associated PPE (personal protection equipment) in the form of fall limiting blocks, harnesses and lanyards. Provision of training and system maintenance were also included as part of the turnkey package at the Newcastle facility, which focuses on steam turbine generator service and design engineering.

Employing some 400 permanent on-site staff, the Siemens Power Generation facility also contains extensive machining, service and test facilities, which cater to the complete overhaul of turbines and generator rotors.

Specialising in the design, installation and implementation of both horizontal and vertical working at height lifeline systems, Height Safety Solutions also provides full training, ongoing consultation, and comprehensive inspection, maintenance and service packages. Provision of height rescue solutions is also catered for.
